Rutland Cricket Centre Introduces New BOLA Automatic Ball Feeder for Enhanced Training Sessions

Nov' 2024

The Rutland Cricket Centre (RCC) is excited to announce the launch of the state-of-the-art BOLA Automatic Ball Feeder, designed to elevate solo and coached batting practice sessions. This advanced machine provides cricketers with precise, timed feeds, perfect for players of all levels looking to hone their batting skills.

The BOLA ball feeder comes with several cutting-edge features, allowing users to customise their training experience. With adjustable delivery delays and the option to feed balls through a flexible tube, the machine is adaptable for spin, swing, and pace bowling. It comes with a new LED light and an optional bleeper warning for cues before each ball release. The feeder is also equipped with a Key Fob remote control, giving coaches or solo players easy control to start, stop, or adjust speed increments on demand.

The new machine allows speeds to be finely tuned from 15 to 95 mph (24 to 152 kph), with 19 swing and spin settings. Cricketers can now enjoy a truly customisable practice experience, empowering both beginners and advanced players to develop their skills like never before.

“We’re thrilled to introduce the BOLA Automatic Ball Feeder as a unique addition to the Rutland Cricket Centre,” said Tom Flowers, Director of the Rutland Cricket Centre. “This machine transforms training sessions by allowing cricketers to even practice solo. Additionally, coaches can refine their skills efficiently by providing more targeted support.”

The BOLA Automatic Ball Feeder is now available for sessions at the RCC. Book your practice today and take your batting skills to the next level!

MARCH 2022 - WALKING CRICKET HAD A GREAT RUN

We recently finished our Walking Cricket sessions last month and it's been a great success! During these sessions older men and women got together and got involved in batting, bowling and fielding! It was a fun social event for our community! It’s a great form of gentle cardio exercise that improves both agility and hand-eye coordination.

It has helped those who have become lonely or isolated to get back involved in their local community, have fun, improve mental health, socialize, and meet new people.

FEBRUARY 2022 - WALKING CRICKET HAS BEEN RUNNING WELL

Friday 14th May 2021 - ECB Updated Statement

"With the positive news from the UK Government confirming England progressing to Step 3 from Monday 17th May, we have updated our guidance to reflect what these changes mean for organised outdoor cricket.  Whilst these changes come into effect from Monday 17th May, it is important to remember that clubs should be encouraged to move at their own pace and only move to the next steps if and when they feel ready to do so.The main changes under Step 3 guidance are as follows:

  • On-field Activities:
All on-field restrictions remain as previously communicated
  • Changing rooms:
can open where it is safe to do so but social distancing and other mitigation measures must be observed, including restrictions on capacity limits.  (Signage can be found via resource hub.)
  • Hospitality:
Clubhouses and facilities that serve food and drink can open.  At Step 3, both indoor and outdoor hospitality will be permitted. The provision of food and beverage should be as per government guidance on hospitality settings.
  • Teas:
Teas can now by served at clubs where this can be done safely and in compliance with government guidance on hospitality settings
  • Spectators:
Spectators are permitted at both public and private venues. Spectators must observe social distancing and legal gathering size limits (groups of up to 30 outdoors).
  • Travel:
You can leave your home to exercise and take part in informal and organised cricket. Car sharing is permitted at Step 3 for sport in accordance with the government guidance for safer travel.

Friday 19th March 2021 - ECB Updated Statement

"The ECB have been working closely with both the UK government and the Welsh government to provide clarity in what the easing of lockdown restrictions mean for recreational cricket across England and Wales. We know that our communities, players and volunteers will have missed the social, physical and health benefits of participating in our great game and we believe we have an important role to play in supporting the nations recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Importantly, we also know that we have a collective responsibility to ensure the safety of our communities by ensuring compliance with both the latest government guidance. The aim of the accompanying documents is to share with you the information we currently know about what the return to cricket at the end of March will look like, in order to help your planning. This is based on our ongoing conversations with the government and key partners to date and information published on gov.uk"

Monday 16th November 2020

The “Rutland Cricket Centre” stands to be the only Cricket Specific facility in the county of Rutland, due to open later this month. The Centre will be powered by a local team of  highly respected professional coaches, and stands to be a great addition to the county's sporting offering.

Director Tom Flowers says;

“We have been researching the perfect area and facility for a long time and now have the funding and backing to deliver this facility to local cricketers in the perfect location.

We hope that the Rutland Cricket Centre provides a much-needed facility for the area, benefitting the many cricketers, individuals, children, adults, females, disability cricketers and more: our staff really cannot wait to get going on this!

The facilities aim is to become the centrepiece of Rutland Cricket during the off season, connecting Rutland’s cricketing market towns of Oakham and Uppingham, whilst also being very accessible for neighbouring cricketing hotbeds of Stamford, Oundle and Market Harborough, all accessible within 30 minutes to the venue.

With no other cricket specific facilities like this within a 24 Mile Radius, both the Leicestershire & Rutland Cricket League (12 Divisions) and Northamptonshire Cricket Leagues (14 Divisions) clubs and their players will be able to have access to a great winter training option for the off season from October to April.

The centre will be open for lane and whole hall hire, as well as 121 lessons and bowling machine usage, with video analysis available.

There has never been a better time for us to release this to the community, at a time when we are all in need of some positive news we hope the RCC can bring some positivity and enjoyment back to the people of Rutland as we continue to battle through this test.”
